DADT

Stephanie wrote a post about (DADT) wher soldier have to hide the fact that they are gay. If they are open about it they cant be in the miletary.  It shouldnt matter what sexual orientation you are if you are willing to serve our country and risk your life for us that is is all that counts.  People are so homophobic what do they think that it is going to rub off on us. Everyone should have the right to be who they are and not be scared of losing their right to serve our country. Stephanie compare this to religion and the right we have to believe in whatever we choose to. I think that is a great comparison and she is definatly on the money about this subject.

Borders and Drug trafficing

The drug violence in mexico is getting way out of control, it is getting to the point where we arent going to be able enter Mexico any more. On March 13, 2010 A gunmen linked to drug trafficking killed a pregnant african american consultant worker and her husband in the town of  Juárez. The gunmen also killed the husband of another employee and wounded his two young children. Complaints from workers that drug-related violence is growing has led  to our goverment letting our workers and their families to evacuate across the borders.Washington has begun to question whether the violence is a threat to their our own national security.  The United States and Mexico have come up with a new  strategies by focusing their efforts on strengthening civilian law enforcement institutions. Drugs are an on going struggle between us and Mexico. I dont know if we are ever going to be able to stop drugs from entering the U.S but in trying to do so I think the gangs are growing despret to continue their money making. They are retaliating in killing our citizens.

Poverty Increases

The author says in Austin poverty is increaseing since 2009 most of these people are families with small children. Juan Castillo (author) gets his info from the census bureau . He is a respected author for the Austin American Statesmen. "18.4 percent of all people in Austin were in poverty last year, up from 17.1 percent in 2008." "By another measure, 14,000 more Austinites lived in poverty in 2009, said City of Austin demographer Ryan Robinson." Hispanics with small children are the largest minority to live in that poverty bracket.  Poverty today is growing and growing every year but is it the goverments fault or ours? So many people live off of welfare and footstamps. I can see that if a person needs help and they have a family it is only the right thing to do to assist them in any way that is possible but is this only enabling them not to work? If you dint have to work just sit at home all day on your couch and watch tv would you? That is what is happenening the tax payers are paying for lazy people to sit at home. A family of four will recieve over $600 in foodstamps every month that is alot. While we work hard everyday to support our family. As a mother I can understand that your children are the most important thing in the world to you. That is why you should do everything in your power to protect and save them from continueing in these footsteps. Show them that you don't have to be poor you can work and feel proud about who and what you do. If poverty is so low do something about it!

We need to think

So has anyone heard about this story about four guys have been accused of planning to
blow up synagogues and shoot down military planes.  Its kinda a two sided deal. Since nine eleven we are so paronoid about every little thing. Without loads of proof we are so quick to judge that someone who isnt from our country is the bad guy. We dont sit and think about the tons of serial killers that are from the us and are white decent who have killed hundreds. We are goin to set up ops to try and find out if a white male walking down the street is a terriost but if a pakistan just looks at us wrong we are scared calling the fbi. Raciscm is what it is we are all suposed to be free and live amongst our neighbors but thats not what is goin on. We seriously need to get a grip on reality and live our lives!

Importance in Voting

Lots of people expecialy the young dont vote. We dont see the importance in having a choice. Yet we seem to complain about everything that is wrong with the government. If you dont take that step to make your choice count how can it? If you arent clear on the choices you have look them up if you have an hr to watch tv then you can take the time to research who is going to be in charge of the major choices in America instead. One person can make a difference.
